How to create your "Vanity"  URL for your company   Facebook Page

The Guys here at Web Directions have noticed that many of our friends and fans on Facebook who have a Facebook Page for their business, haven't claimed their 'Vanity' URL. In short you don't have to have a web address for Facebook with all the cluttered numbers and characters if you have over 25 likes .

Please follow these simple  instructions and you could have it almost as quickly as you could say, for example ......"Millwall for the Cup"

What exactly do we mean by this?

When you first set up a Page for yourself or business, Facebook gives you a URL that looks something like this…..

www.facebook.com/pages/Your-Business-Name/1247859655?ref=ts

Not very easy to remember, and  certainly not something you could tell your friends at a party to go and visit.

However, once your Page has reached 25 “likes” you are able to claim your own unique Facebook URL.

So now your Vanity URL can be www.facebook.com/YourChosenName

For example: https://www.facebook.com/webdirectionsuk

According to Facebook Terms & Conditions

Usernames were created to make it easier for Facebook users to identify their profile and share with others. As a public figure, business or brand with a Page on Facebook, we here at Web Directions think your username should be straightforward and easy to remember, normally the name of your business. Be careful once created it cant be changed !

There are a few things to consider before creating your username

So now you have decided on your username, follow these steps to create  it.

Once logged into Facebook follow these simple steps:

  1. Go to www.facebook.com/username
  2. Select “Select a Username” for your page
  3. This brings up a drop down menu, select the page you want to create the username for.
  4. If your page has the needed 25 fans it will bring up a box .
  5. Enter your desired username and click on “check availability”
  6. If it’s available, you will be shown some final terms – if you are happy with your choice click “confirm” or select “cancel” to try another one.
Now you can send out your new Facebook URL – www.facebook.com/YourBusinessName

Remember - this won't work for a Page that doesn't have 25 likes or more.

Enjoy your new URL:   Have a lovely day, The Web Directions team.
